Microplastics in placental tissue could explain unexplained miscarriages

We’ve long known that microplastics have infiltrated nearly every corner of our environment, from deep-sea trenches to the air we breathe. But new research has revealed (another) place where these plastics are hiding: These tiny plastic particles are accumulating in placental tissue during early pregnancy, and they may be linked to an increased risk of miscarriage.
